MEDCODE: Sound as Medicine

MEDCODE: Sound as Medicine is an interactive digital artwork examining the relationship between sound, the body, memory, and healing. Presented through the visual language of a live code environment, the project transforms ideas about frequency, amplitude, resonance, rhythm, harmony, and dissonance into a responsive browser experience.

Visitors move through layers of text and imagery by using their cursor or touchscreen. Their movement changes the speed of the environment, while swiping across the code causes it to dissolve and reveal an image beneath the interface. Sound can be activated or paused through a click or tap, making the viewer’s body and attention part of the composition.

The work asks how vibration can communicate beyond words and how listening might operate as a practice of care. MEDCODE considers sound not simply as entertainment, but as a physical and emotional presence capable of changing perception, carrying memory, and offering moments of grounding, connection, and hope.
