Onyx Code Labs is a digital platform created by Cody Perkins / Algorythm.Code to preserve culture through sound, code, image, archive, fine art, and creative mentorship.

The platform brings together Cody’s multidisciplinary practice across composition, performance, installation, moving image, creative coding, cultural research, and community-based education. Rather than functioning as a traditional portfolio, Onyx Code Labs is designed as an evolving digital environment where projects, archives, experiments, and ideas can exist in conversation with one another.

The project explores how technology can be used as a tool for cultural preservation, emotional communication, artistic experimentation, and collective learning. It centers Black memory and creative practice while imagining more caring and accessible relationships between people, art, and technology.

MISSION

To preserve culture through sound, code, image, archive, fine art, and creative mentorship while creating pathways for Black artists and communities to participate in the future of technology.

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Onyx Code Labs treats the browser as an exhibition space, archive, instrument, classroom, and site of experimentation. Each digital environment combines artistic direction, sound, interface design, storytelling, and responsive media to create experiences that visitors can move through rather than simply observe.

Creative Coding and Interactive Media
Browser-based artworks, responsive installations, digital interfaces, and technology-driven experiences.

Archive and Cultural Memory
Projects preserving family history, Black communication, community knowledge, and personal memory.

Fine Art and Performance
Installation, opera, dance, projection, film, and interdisciplinary performance.

Creative Mentorship
Accessible arts and technology education for young people, emerging artists, and communities often excluded from technical spaces.
